InWEnt for the first is organising the first regional and interdisciplinary Alumni Conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from November 11 - 14, 2007.The conference through the regional Alumni programme aims at strengthening the cooperation with the alumni as well as the cooperation among the alumni in networks and with the industry, scientific institutions, organizations of development cooperation, civil society and cultural institutions.
Keeping in touch and cooperating with former participants (Alumni) following their return to their home countries is an essential part of the program work of InWEnt gGmbH - Capacity Building International.
The regional Alumni programme aims at strengthening the cooperation with the alumni as well as the cooperation among the alumni in networks and with the industry, scientific institutions, organizations of development cooperation, civil society and cultural institutions. The instruments at disposal in the countries are virtual and media-based instruments such as Global Campus 21 and the regional alumni network an@fric and also the so-called regional forums which are presence activities.
On the other hand, the subject-specific alumni seminars, which are also presence activities led in the specific countries, deal with general subjects that respond to the specific demands for subject-specific education and training of the particular target groups or which are of importance for the regional portfolio of InWEnt (e.g. energy supply, budget management and decentralization).
The first regional interdisciplinary conference for Sub-Saharan Africa that connects these two elements will be launched in November 2007 in Dar es Salaam and shall be held every two years.
Under the topic "Partnership for Sustainable Development" the conference shall provide an opportunity for senior representatives from African regional organizations as well as media and trade associations to discuss development policy related issues in a podium discussion, go more into detail in subject specific activities referring to the topic (e.g. trade agreements - European Partnership Agreements) and then finally present them to a broader public.
Thus the new format provides both a space for issues of a supra-regional political interest(e.g. EU/AU Cooperation - Options for a more effective policy-making) and subject specific high-quality seminars.
The conference is of three-day event from 11th to 14 November, 2007 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The conference venue is the 'White Sands' Congress Centre.
